What do you like most about working with NAI?
I love working with the team here at NAI. We have a great group of people that share a teamwork attitude with faith being the center. You really get to know the people here well because we work as a team and it makes being here every day more enjoyable.
What does a “day-in-the-life” look like for you?
I don’t think any two days are the same. I might write out a list of items I need to accomplish in the beginning of each day, but urgent items come up that take precedent over the things scheduled. Being available is so essential in order to solve issues as they come up. We have specific tasks that we do each day/week/month/quarter and year that are in place. Typically, we are in and out of the office a lot balancing these specific tasks that need to get done but also dealing with other tenant/landlord issues at the properties themselves.
What’s your most memorable work experience?
Soon after I started here at NAI one of the properties I managed burned down. I learned a lot through the process and would not wish it upon anyone. I was able to general contract the new building and in doing so increased my knowledge of the entire insurance process but also construction and management of tenants in a transition like this.
What sets you apart from the competition?
Since now doing this for 10 years, I have learned a lot about people and the one characteristic that I feel sets a good property manager apart from others is the ability to communicate well with both tenants and landlords. Different problems arise every single day and a property manager’s job is to find a solution that works for all parties involved, while communicating with everyone. Detailed and honest communication helps when working though the toughest situations.
Why property management?
I grew up in this world. Family events consisted of working on a building or going to the office with my dad. It’s just natural when you have been around it your entire life. I love property management because you have a very unique relationship with owners and tenants. We get to make some pretty significant decisions and have large input on others. The people we work with are genuinely great people that want to serve others like they want to be treated and that makes my job enjoyable!
